TELEMET latitude 42° north air assault
March 1 & 2, 2008
As always, latitude 42° north air assault will feature plenty of live music in between the competitions... and on into the night. Here's a list of ths year's bands... we'll bring you the schedule in coming days.
Turnpike Mike & The All-Stars
Turnpike Mike & The All-Stars is a band based out of the Jersey Shore with roots in the Hunter area. Turnpike Mike got his start playing with Brooklyn songwriter Otis Blackwell and over the years has played with some of rock music’s elite. This power trio glides through tunes like Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze or George Thorogood's Bad to the Bone. All summer long you can hear these guys rocking the Jersey Shore and you can bet if Turnpike Mike is playing a good time will be had by all!
Funk Mafia
Funk Mafia is a group of underground musical hitmen led by Mark Basil, working in and around the Catskill Mountains of NY. Although this is their 3rd year rockin’ the 42 Degree stage, they could also be seen in a variety of music festivals throughout the past year including Gunk Funk Fest, Gourd Fest, their Annual Halloween Bash as well as their Annual New Year’s event. Preoccupied and dedicated to the preservation of the motion of the hips, they will call upon any number of funky tactics, improvisational creativity and polished chops all designed to make you shake yo’ booty like it was yo’ duty. With the solid foundation of Bass, Drums, Turntables and Guitar, the Mafia can handle business on their own with no questions asked. But, true to the New Orleans style, they are well attuned with a group of movers and shakers from many other organizations and families. Funk is its own reward, can ya dig it.
Edison
Our headlining act after coming off of a world tour, Edison makes its 4th appearance on the 42 Degree stage. Like their namesake, Edison strives for invention and passion in the music they create. Their sound and unique lifestyle is roots-based and hard-driving. Organic, yet earsplitting, Edison celebrates an ever-endangered brand of underground rock-n-roll spirit. Hailing from different parts of the country, Edison has set up camp in a once famous cowboy ranch in the Blackhead Mountains of New York. Edison doesn’t second-guess the latest trends – they keep things fresh by creating timeless, message-driven songs free from the formulaic trappings of copycat pop iconography. It’s vital, essential stuff from which hibernating fanatics might be convinced to crawl back out of their burrows and restore rock-n-roll to its rightful place.

Lynch
LYNCH is a song structured improvisational fusion of hip-hop, rock, and jazz... flirting with many styles from drum and bass to latin and reggae.
A live LYNCH show is high energy, featuring Terence and Shannon Lynch of the underground success Conehead Buddha. Conehead Buddha was a main stay on the Jam scene in the nineties. CB toured relentlessly for 10 years playing pinnacle shows on the H.O.R.D.E and WARPED tours allowing the sibling duo to hone their skills on trumpet and saxophone. Vocally, their harmonies blend with ease while splitting duties on lead.
LYNCH has had many faces grace their stage over the years, including Al Schnier, Vinnie Amico and Jim Loughlin of moe., all of Schleigho, all of Antigone Rising, Chris Fisher and Brian Kaplan of Conehead Buddha, Peter Prince of Moon Boot Lover, and many many more. Terence and Shannon have had the pleasure of playing with the likes of Maceo Parker, moe., Antigone Rising, Peter Prince & Moon Boot Lover, yoLk, Sam Kininger, and the list goes on!
As a band, LYNCH is quickly gaining a name for itself in many scenes. With a fusion of hip-hop, rock, and improv there isn't a crowd Lynch can't rock. It's no wonder the band is being called the "Van Halen of hip-hop."
