Rules of Competition
As of last years survey the popular vote ruled in favor of the use of speed suits.
Team Size: Teams will be limited to a total of 10 participants, which will be finalized by 5:00pm the day before the scheduled start of the second race of the series. At least one member of opposite gender must be a part of the team to qualify for team points. Once the team has been set there will be NO additions, replacements, and/or substitutions throughout the remainder of the series. The only exception to this rule will be for a season-ending injury.
This change must be submitted to Hunter Mountain (Chris OP Toupence - 800.486.8376 x2322) prior to the next race for approval. You may fax changes to 518-263-3704 Attn: Chris OP Toupence. Please follow all faxes with a phone call.
Change of Teams: Any racer that changes teams after the first race and before the second will forfeit all accumulated team points to original team while keeping personal points that have been accrued.
Authorized substitutions: To be considered through a jury system involving team captains and management.
Independent Racers: Independent racers, also known as racers without teams, are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the race series and compete for weekly and series awards.
Start Order: The start order will be based on a first-come, first-serve basis for all competitors. This method will allow for a smooth transition between runs while allowing personal grudge match races.
Disqualification: Any athlete disqualified from competition for any reason will forfeit any team points accrued for their particular team. However, race standings and points earned from previous weeks races will stand with no adjustments being made to points or finishing positions.
Disputes: All disputes regarding the scoring of each event will only be considered or accepted on the day following the race in question. Any protests not brought to the attention of the Race Dept. within 48 hours of the finish of the race will not be recognized and points finish position, and awards will stand.
Scoring: The first place team will receive 100 points. 2nd=90pts, 3rd=85pts, 4th=80pts, 5th=75pts, 6th=70pts, 7th=65pts, 8th=60pts, 9th=55pts, 10th=50pts, 11th=45pts, 12th=40pts, 13th=35pts, 14th=30pts, 15th=25pts, 16th=20pts.
Classes: BASED ON LAST YEARS SURVEY LOCALMOTION WILL STILL UTILIZE NASTAR FORMAT. We will be utilizing the NASTAR format to handicap racers based on sex, age, discipline, and run-time. These handicaps will then be combined to form an overall team handicap. This will ensure a very competitive series of races. Best handicap counts.
Accumulation of Individual Points: All racers who finish a run will be awarded points. This will be based on finish position within the determined sex and discipline. Best run counts.
Accumulation of Team Points: The top 4-finishers/point earners from each team will have their points combined to determine the team points. To qualify for team points, a team must have at least 3 racers finish their runs and accumulate individual points while at the same time have at least one finisher from each gender (male and female).
Weekly Awards:
Individual: The top three snowboarders and top three skiers Male and Female will be recognized in accordance with the above stated scoring methods.
Team: There will be weekly team recognition.
End of Series Awards:
Individual: The top 3 finishers in both the women and men’s classes will be recognized. This award is based on total number of points accumulated throughout the series, regardless of which flight the points were earned in.
Team: The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placed team will be recognized. This will be based on cumulative weekly scoring that the teams accumulate throughout the series.
