Colors in the Catskills II / Hunter Mountain Oktoberfest
hosted by the BMW Motorcycle Owners Association
Last year we built the dream and 2,500 motorcycles showed up. This year we will make it even bigger, better, higher and wider, while still retaining all the aspects that made this a unique event representative of the long history of the BMW Motorcycles Owners Association. The rally was conceived as an "all brands" event featuring off road, sport, and touring riding opportunities. We'll have high quality motorcycle equipment vendors and equally high quality seminars and entertainment. On site discounted lodging at the Kaatskill Mountain Club Hotel and Spa, as well as on-slope condos, offer accommodations adjacent to the festival & rally grounds.
And of course the admission price is just right.....FREE.
TEAM MAX BMW will conduct free on-mountain off road riding schools numerous times each day. The excellent local roads also provide some real challenges for sport riding. Last year TEAM MAX filled every slot they offered for their FREE off road riding school. You provide the off road or dual sport bike, and they show you how to more fully utilize its potential. For those who qualified, the prize was a ride to the summit of Hunter Mountain, a 1600 foot vertical climb up some of the ski trails. There were lots of smiling faces around the TEAM MAX area all three days.
You can spend your day doing some riding in the area, or spend it browsing through the motorcycle vendors, such as Roadgear, Twisted Throttle and many more, or just hanging out at the Oktoberfest enjoying beer and brats, riding the chairlift to the summit for some hiking and leaf peeping. There will be music all day Saturday and Sunday as part of the Hunter Mountain Oktoberfest. On Friday and Saturday evenings the BMW MOA will be hosting more music in the base lodge lounge area after a long day of riding.
Hunter has once again offered sharply discounted on-site room rates to our attendees for one night stays. An extra discount applies if you book a two night stay. To reserve space contact Renee Chirico at 518-263-5580 ext. 3021 or rchirico@huntermtn.com. For off site lodging choices please visit this site, www.greenetourism.com.
This year Hunter Mountain will also offer on-site camping. Grassy campsites are located adjacent to the festival grounds. The price is $15 per motorcycle per night. Click here for camping registration.
This is just a small sampling of what awaits you at the Second Annual "Colors in the Catskills" event. Come join us for a day or the entire weekend. Bring all your friends along with you, the more the merrier. They don't have to be BMW riders; all brands of bikes are welcome to join in the fun.
