August 21 & 22, 2010

celtic_crossroads_logo.jpgFeaturing fantastic entertainment from the Emerald Isles, plus world-class Irish-American bands. Dozens of authentic Irish vendors, traditional foods, and plenty of beverages.

Sunday features a Bagpipe Competition, followed by the spectacular Mass March as hundreds of pipers and drummers march down the mountain in unison. After the Mass March, the entire procession will play as one at the base of the mountain - it's a spine-tingling sight that is not to be missed. Please note that pets are not permitted on the festival grounds.

We have a great line-up this year, featuring some of the biggest names in Celtic music. This year we're extremely proud and excited to host the phenomenal experience of Celtic Crossroads.

2010 Entertainment Line-up:

Celtic Crossroads
celtic_crossroads_1.jpgCeltic Crossroads is critically acclaimed as 'the most exhilarating and authentic show to come from Ireland in decades - not to be missed'. It is an explosion of youthful energy and dazzling musicianship. Celtic Crossroads abounds with fusions of traditional Irish music, bluegrass, gypsy and jazz whilst pulsating with the rhythms of exciting Irish dance percussion. Spontaneous mid show ovations are the norm, and enraptured Celtic Crossroads audiences are always compelled to shout, and SHOUT for more. Performing Saturday only.

RATHKELTAÍR
rathkeltair_1.jpgTaking top honors for Best Celtic Rock Band, Best Celtic Rock Vocalist, and Best Instrumentalist of 2006 in the annual Celtic MP3s Music Magazine Peoples’ Choice Awards,  RATHKELTAÍR is a truly international group featuring musicians from Northern Ireland, England, and the US.

RATHKELTAÍR consists of ‘piper Neil Anderson and drummer Nick Watson, two of the original members of America's ground-breaking Celtic rock powerhouse 7 Nations, and guitarist Trevor Tanner, front-man/lead guitarist and songwriter for The Bolshoi, a mainstay on the English club scene and a band whose influence continues to resonate years later.

Since its debut in 2003, RATHKELTAÍR has become one of the most talked-about bands on the North American Celtic festival circuit.  It’s hard to categorize RATHKELTAÍR, but you could loosely describe it as Celtic rock jam fusion.  Reviewers and audience members often compare it to a wide spectrum of influences, from Widespread Panic to the Chieftains.  A huge reservoir of original material, coupled with a jam-band mentality and the combination of three formidable multi-instrumentalists make RATHKELTAÍR a must-see.  The band has headlined some of the largest Celtic festivals in North America, including the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio, and the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in North Carolina.

The name RATHKELTAÍR comes from drummer Nick Watson, a native of County Down, Northern Ireland. It means "hill of the Celts" and is an ancient archaeological site near the village where Nick grew up.  Performing Saturday only.

Barleyjuice
barleyjuice1.jpgBarleyjuice is contagious. With four albums and a double CD collection in their sporrans to date, these six kilted yanks are currently one of the most beloved celtic rock bands in the USA.  Frontmen Kyf Brewer and Keith "Swanny" Swanson lithely cover lead vocals, guitars, accordion, harmonica, mandolin, bouzouki, and bagpipes. Both originally piped in the Loch Rannoch Pipe Band, and performed in Edinburgh’s Millennium March for Prince Charles. While Swanson was once a member of New York’s legendary Flailin’ Shilaleghs, Kyf’s been a pro performer since his first band, The Ravyns, produced the hit "Raised on the Radio" for the 1982 film Fast Times At Ridgemont High.

Backing Brewer & Swanson are a mad quartet of characters: captivating fiddler Billy Dominick, whose roots stray back to bluegrass in the middle of the most authentic jigs & hornpipes; drummer Gregor Schroeder, a powerhouse of driving decadence; whistler/banjo player Jimmy Carbomb (after the drink), a kiltmaking bard who fascinates fans with his ability to whistle and smoke simultaneously; and hopping bassist Eric Worthington, musical snake-charmer of the deep and dulcet.

The ayes have it - Barleyjuice is a grand group of talented tunesmiths and prodigious performers, and the absolute best time you can have at a concert without removing your kilt. Performing Saturday only.
