Mountain Biking & Skyride open July 5!
Hunter, NY -- Hunter Mountain’s mountain bike park, including its Hunter One Skills Center, rental shop and lift-accessed summit trails are scheduled to open on July 5, 2008. Hunter Mountain’s 5,500 foot Skyride, which utilizes Hunter’s A-Lift to take guests to the summit of the mountain, will also be open for guests on July 5. Both programs are scheduled to run through October.
Together, Hunter’s lift-accessed mountain biking trails and Skyride bring thousands of visitors to the summit (and back to the base) each summer through fall. Hunter’s mountain biking program includes its Hunter One Skills Center, an area designed for beginners. The Skills Center offers guided tours and lessons from experienced mountain bikers, and offers scaled-down features for beginners and intermediates to practice on.
From the beginner terrain, mountain bikers continue to the challenging lift-accessed mountain bike trails, which begin 1600 feet up at the summit of the mountain. Equipment rentals are offered in Hunter Mountain’s Sports & Expeditions Center, and bikes are available for rent or for sale.
Hunter Mountain’s A-Lift, referred to as The Skyride in the summer, takes guests 3200 feet above sea level to the summit of Hunter Mountain Resort. This 5,500 ride is roughly 20 minutes round trip, and offers views of the Berkshires, Green Mountains and the Catskill Mountains. Guests can walk back to the base on any of our trails, bike down if involved in the mountain bike program, or continue to hike to the Hunter Mountain Fire Tower: an elevation of 4,050 feet—roughly a two-mile hike each way from the summit of Hunter Mountain.
Skyride tickets are available for $8 per person, and can be purchased at the resort. The Skyride will be open Wednesday – Sunday through August 31, and weekends through October 12.
