Today we're hosting the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge, open to skiers and riders of all ages.

Plenty of snow for a great weekend at Hunter Mountain. The longer-range forecast is finally looking more like winter, with snowmaking temperatures expected to return early next week.

 

December 14, 2006 

Beautiful weather today... although still unseasonably mild. The long range forecast is heading towards a gradual cooling trend overall. We have a marginal snowmaking window tomorrow night, of which we will take advantage. Temperatures starting in the middle of next week look more conducive to snowmaking, with some shots of natural snow possible as well.

We took delivery of our new Pipe Magician this morning. It has a larger radius curve to cut a larger pipe than our old cutter.

Just a little too mild for snowmaking this week, but we should have plenty of snow to see us through to the next snowmaking opportunity. Skiing and riding is fantastic for now though, with good cover and the most terrain in the state.

Conditions are outstanding today, with plenty of powder and packed powder.

Today is the first day of our Consumer Demo Weekend. Reps from all the major ski and snowboard manufacturers are on hand with vanloads of skis and boards for testing. There's no charge, but you'll need a photo ID or major credit card for a deposit.

We're in great shape with 17 trails and 6 lifts opening today. This evening we're hosting our first free rail jam of the year, our Winter Kick-off Rail Jam.

We're maiking a TON of snow this morning, and the temperature is not expected to go up much at all today. It will be moderating quite a bit on Saturday, and turning a bit milder for Sunday. Overall, we're looking forward to a beautiful weekend!

Excellent snowmaking weather through tonight, then a bit warmer for the weekend. It should be a great weekend.... we'll be opening several more trails by Saturday... and the weather forecast looks great!

We're open from top to bottom. Snowmaking will resume this afternoon as soon as the temperature drops. We'll be spreading out onto several more trails to get ready for our Consumer Demo this weekend.

We received a shiny new wave rail this morning... just in time for our Winter Kick-off Rail Jam on Saturday.

We're open from top to bottom. This weekend is our Consumer Demo... it's a great way to test this year's new skis and snowboards.

The sunrise this morning looked like the sky was on fire. We are re-opening today with skiing and riding for advanced abilities or better, from summit to base.
