2013-2014 Seasonal Programs for Kids
Is your child ready to take the next step in skiing or snowboarding skill development? The Hunter Mountain Kids' Seasonal Programs give your child a chance to experience the Catskill Mountains, while at the same time continuing development of his or her ski or snowboard skills.
Every weekend starting in December and continuing through March, they will receive coaching from our top snowsport certified instructors at Hunter Mountain. With lots of snow, great terrain, and renowned conditions, you can be sure your child will get the most out of the winter season. They will also develop friendships that can last a lifetime.
Included in the program are extra holiday days and our annual seasonal race/end of year party. This is an incredible program at a very affordable price. There is limited space available for all the programs, so sign up now!

Mini Mights
4 year olds, ski only
Skiers who are able to perform the wedge, small turns, stopping wedge, and are independent of any learning device as well as independent of their parents. Minimum requirement is to ski comfortably on all green Hunter One terrain. Children in the Mini Mights Program will be assessed prior to joining the program on the first weekend and groups will be formed based on their ability and group dynamics. There will be a strict maximum ratio of 4 students to 1 coach. Mini Mights are not expected to be able to load the lift without assistance.
When: Program meets from 9:30-11:30 and 12:30-2:30 every Saturday & Sunday including holiday dates
How much? No fee for program until after assessment on first weekend. Registration ends on December 31, 2013.

Mighty Mights
Ages 5 & 6, ski only
Skiers who are able to at least perform the wedge, stopping wedge and make controlled turns on green terrain. Minimum requirement is to ski comfortable on all green terrain (Mossy Brook included). Groups will be formed with other kids similar in skill. A group ratio of 8 students to 1 coach will be maintained to give enough personal attention that is needed at this young age. All Mighty Mights must be able to independently load the chair lift. It may be necessary for Mighty Mights to ride the lift with an adult from the general public or with another Hunter Mountain Instructor during class.
When: Program meets from 9:30-11:30 and 12:30-2:30 every Saturday & Sunday including holiday dates. There is a one-hour unsupervised lunch time when parents are required to pick up and drop off their child unless parents sign release form.

Junior Development
Ages 7-17, ski or snowboard
Skier minimum requirement is to ski comfortably on all green and some blue terrain (Kennedy Drive). Snowboarders’ minimum requirement is to board comfortable on all green terrain (Mossy Brook). Groups will be formed with other kids similar in skill and age. If child can’t perform with his or her group the participant will be moved to another group or requested to join our Mountaineers program.
When: Program meets from 9:30-11:30 and 12:30-2:30 every Saturday & Sunday including holiday dates. There is a one-hour unsupervised lunch time when parents are required to pick up and drop off their child unless parents sign release form.

Junior Adventure
Ages 7-17, ski AND snowboard
Join our seasonal program that gives your child a chance to develop both his or her skiing and snowboarding skills. Minimum requirement is to comfortably ski and snowboard on all green Hunter One terrain. Training schedule for ski and snowboard will be reviewed by the coach during the season. If child can't perform with his or her group the participant will be moved to another group or requested to join our Mountaineers program. Note: Minimum enrollment requirement for program.

Junior Freeski/Mogul Development
Ages 7-17, ski only
Here is your chance to allow your child to take that next step in tackling the different elements of the mountain. Previously known as the Junior Freeeride group, our freeski group gives your child a chance to improve their bump skills, hit jumps all over the mountain, or take on the challenges of the terrain park elements. Minimum requirement is to comfortably ski in the bumps and hitting small jumps. If child can’t perform with his or her group the participant will be moved to another group or requested to join our Mountaineers program.
When: Program meets from 9:30-11:30 and 12:30-2:30 every Saturday & Sunday including holiday dates. There is a one-hour unsupervised lunch time when parents are required to pick up and drop off their child unless parents sign release form.

Teen Pro Development
Ages 13-17, ski or snowboard
Advanced skiers or snowboarders, must be comfortable on single black diamond terrain (Hellgate). Group is set up to continue skill development, but also takes the next step to start developing the skills necessary to be an Instructor, Coach or Patroller at Hunter Mountain.
When: Program meets from 9:30-11:30 and 12:30-2:30 every Saturday & Sunday including holiday dates. There is a one-hour unsupervised lunch time when parents are required to pick up and drop off their child unless parents signs release form.

Q: What time does the seasonal program start and end?
A: 9:30 – 11:30 for AM session, 12:30-2:30 for PM session, one hour unsupervised lunch from 11:30-12:30
Q: What days does the seasonal program run?

A: Hunter Mountain offers a number of kids program including our Explorers, Mountaineers program and Private lessons.
Q: What is the Seasonal Program Race?
A: An annual competitive race of all seasonal program participants occurs at Hunter Mountain. Following the race awards and the end of the year party will transpire.
Q: Do I have to register for the Seasonal Program Race?
A: No, all participants enrolled in the program are automatically registered to compete in the annual seasonal race
Q: Except for the annual seasonal race, is it required to compete in any other races or competitive events during the season?
A: No, all competitive events for the seasonal program participants are optional. If you are interested in joining a competitive team click on the competitive competition link to find out more information.
Q: What is the Mini World Cup Race?
A: A competitive race for kids and parents to learn how racing events occur
Q: Does the seasonal program include a season pass?
A: No, the price of the program only includes instruction and does not include the seasonal pass. Click on the following link to purchase a season pass.
Q: Can kids be released at lunch time and end of the day without parents present?
A: Yes, as long as they sign the parents release form allowing the right for Hunter Mountain to release the kids without a parent present.
Q: What is the recommend equipment for the program?
A: All-mountain ski or snowboard. Groups are setup for skill development that exposes participants to all the areas of skiing or snowboarding. Also required is warm enough clothing to assure child isn’t affected by the cold climate.
Q: Does my child have to attend every class?
A: No, but it is highly recommended to attend as many classes as possible to receive the full benefit of the program.
