Ski & Snowboard Rentals

2011-12 Season

Rental Rates | Featured Equipment | Helpful Hints | Purchase Online

The Hunter Mountain Rental Shop located in the Learning Center offers convenient slopeside ski and snowboard rentals, including our Burton Learn To Ride (LTR) Center. Everything you need for your renting experience is located right in the Learning Center. There is a ticket counter located in the lobby where you can purchase all you need for your day on the slopes. The Rental Shop is located right next to our Learning Zone and Hunter One to make it easy to get to and from the slopes.

Rentals are open Mon-Fri (non-holiday) from 8:30am-5:00pm and on Sat-Sun & holidays from 8:00am-5:00pm. The latest that rentals will be available for the day is 3:00pm. Anyone under the age of 18 needs to have a parent or legal guardian sign the rental form in order to rent. We will not rent to anyone without a signed rental form.

Along with our large fleet of learn-to and beginner rentals, we have a small quantity of Performance rentals. For the 2011-2012 season, they are the Head Peak 74, a mid-level, all-mountain ski. These are suggested for intermediate to beginning expert skiers (blue square and single black diamond trails). Due to the limited number in stock, we suggest you pre-order these through e|ski before your visit, to help ensure that we have the length you want.

If you are new to renting at Hunter Mountain, please read our rental prices and Helpful Hints below.

Helpful hints:

When planning a trip to the Rental Shop at Hunter Mountain, please consider the following:

Time Well Spent:
  • Schedule enough time to pass through the Rental Shop and still get to your lesson. It can take up to 45 minutes on midweek days and up to 90 minutes on busy weekends and holidays for the first time visitor to be fitted properly and receive all their gear. If traveling with a family, allow even more time due to the number of people and diverse ages. Please visit our Ski & Snowboard Lessons for class times.
  • To help avoid delays, plan your arrival before or as close to 8:30AM as possible. Our busiest times are from 10AM to Noon then again at 3PM to 4:30PM. The Rental Shop is open from 8:30AM to 5PM. The lifts are open from 8:30AM to 4PM.
  • Make sure your children are in the right place. The children's programs located in the downstairs of the Learning Center has a small rental area located within it. This facility has equipment for kids 6 yrs old and younger, while older children should receive their gear from the Rental Shop upstairs. If you are traveling with mixed ages and can not separate them, the Rental Shop upstairs is for you.
  • Please remember that children can tend to take longer than adults to be fitted with gear.

e|ski
Rental equipment is available for pre-purchase on-line through our e|ski system. This service is only to purchase the rental, it does not include having the gear preset and waiting for you. E|ski offers a discounted price and it allows the renter to skip past filling out the rental form upon arrival. The on-line system will ask you a series if questions that will allow a pre-printed rental forn to be waiting for you when you pick up your purchase. It is very importatnt to read the directions carefully and and fill out all of the requested information so that the form can be prionted properly and completely. If you are renting for multiple people, pleas emake sure that each person has been entered into e|ski. Each guest needs their own form. If items on the form are not cpmplete or accurate, there will be a delay in the process once you arrive.

The Proper Fit:
To help with proper fitting boots, a few steps need to be taken before arrival. Only one pair of (thin) socks should be worn. Multiple layers of socks can cause friction in the boot and result in blisters. Thick, heavy socks may be too warm and cause sweating that can cause irritations. While making sure that a water-proof pair of pants is worn to keep you warm and dry, make sure that the cuffs of the pants are wide enough or elastic enough to go over the top of the boots. This will help keep snow out and give a proper fit around the calf muscle.

Helmets
Helmets are included with the price of your rental and are also available separately. When renting a helmet, it must be sized for the individual. They can not be swapped with another person during your stay. To have the proper fit, the person wearing the helmet must not be wearing another hat, have tall or extra styled hair. The helmet must fit snugly against the head - any extra spaces or gaps will cause an improper fit.

But I'm almost 18:
  • If you are under the age of 18 you will need to have a parents or guardians signature to rent. This is something that will not be overlooked.

Security Deposit:
  • A deposit will need to be left while the rental equipment is rented. A valid drivers license; credit card (we will photocopy); valid military id; valid picture school id or $250 in cash. All deposits will be returned or destroyed after the rental gear is returned.

Staying for a while?
  • Consecutive multi-day discounts are available.
  • If you are staying for multiple days, let us know when you arrive in the Rental Shop at the deposit counters. If you would like to, you can hold on to your rental gear over night. This saves time and gets you out on the slopes faster.
  • Please remember that your deposit will be kept over night if you hold the gear over night.
