Please Be Advised our spitz blitz race has been canceled.

Please be aware that unfortunately we have decided to cancel our Spitz Blitz Race/Walk to the summit scheduled to be held Saturday, Oct. 13th. This decision was made for the safety of our guests, as there will still be active construction for our Hunter North expansion on and around Belt Parkway. We apologize for any and all inconvenience and hope to still see all of our guests during our four free weekends of Oktoberfest held during September 22nd – October 14th.

All race proceeds and donations will go to Community Action of Greene County. Click here  to follow a link to their donation page. The Hunter Mountain Spitz Blitz Mountain Run/Walk Up to the Summit was to be held this year during the 4th weekend of Oktoberfest on the morning of Saturday, October 13, 2018.

We are honored to announce we will once again be hosting the Spitz Blitz Run/Walk up to the Summit this year. This year's race will go towards benefiting Community Action of Greene County, which is dedicated to community wellness and betterment through a wide variety of programs and services.  To help fundraising efforts of Community Action we are requiring a $15 donation in addition to the $5 race fee. Donations will go directly to the Community Action of Greene County to benefit their fundraising and program assistance efforts. The Spitz Blitz Race/Walk occurs before the gates open for Oktoberfest.

Experience spectacular views unique to the Great Northern Catskill Mountains while racing, running or walking up to the summit of Hunter Mountain! This is a tough, uphill only challenge. Do you have what it takes to reach the summit?

Registration details for October 13th are available below:
Registration will be open between approximately 8:45 - 9:45 AM
  • Runners will begin at 10:00 AM. Walkers begin at 10:15 AM.
  • Check-in and day of registration will be available under the Hunter Mountain tent set up out front of the Main Lodge behind the Colonel's Chair.
  • Pre-registration is recommended and will make your morning check-in much easier.
PARKING: There are about 5,000 parking spots at Hunter Mountain. The earlier you arrive the closer you get to park.

THE COURSE: The distance is roughly 1.7 miles, but it is all uphill on Hunter Mountain’s famous Belt Parkway. This is an intermediate ski trail with 1,600 feet of elevation change - almost 1,000 feet per mile. Yes, that means it is straight up all the way to the summit. Terrain changes from packed dirt paths to gravel and large rocks so choose your footwear appropriately!

SCHEDULE: Please stay and enjoy the festival, and if you still have the energy, sign up for one of the fun activities at Oktoberfest, which starts at 11:15 AM.

REFRESHMENTS: We will have staffed aid stations at two sections of the course. Aid stations will have the following: water, oranges, and cookies available.

FUNDRAISING: A $15 required donation to benefit Community Action of Greene County's fundraising efforts will be added to your $5 pre-registration fee upon checkout. If you want to make a bigger difference, that is great! Here's a link to their fundraising page.

WAIVERS: All participants will need to sign a waiver at the race registration. Spectators will need a lift ticket for our Scenic Skyride, which is $14, to get to the finish line at the summit.

WHAT TO WEAR: Please be sure to wear a good pair of comfortable running shoes. You will be running/walking on rough, gravel roads with washouts and loose stones.

THE SUN: The sun may be out on race day. Please ensure you wear sunscreen and properly protect yourself from the sun.
Bring the family for a great day at Hunter Mountain!
